Somerset charity, Ferne Animal Sanctuary, welcomes wagging tails across the county to its annual dog show, hosted at the sanctuary near Chard on Sunday 3rd September 2023.
The dog show will be held at the animal rescue charity’s 72-acre site, to raise funds for a paw-sitive cause! From interactive agility classes and a treat-filled temptation alley to the two arenas of dog classes, local business stands and delicious food & drink – all funds raised by the event will directly contribute to Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming of its animal residents.
The fun-filled pooch parade invites dogs of all breeds, ages and abilities to enter a range of best-in-class categories. Cutest Youngster (puppies under 1 year); Best Veteran (7 years and over); Most Handsome Dog; Prettiest Bitch; Loveliest Large Dog; Loveliest Little Dog; Waggiest Tail; Best Trick; Best Rescue; Best Ferne Rescue; and Best in Show.
Whether its unleashing seasoned professionals or conquering their first obstacle, agility courses are accessible to all, and pups who complete the circuit will be awarded with rosettes. Temptation alley, filled with toys and treats, challenges dogs to overrule their temptation with instruction, in a race to their owner at the end of the alley.
A variety of stalls from regional businesses will be at the show, supporting the event, including pet snuggle sacks and clothes, felt pet portraits, dog toys and treats, fashion, homeware and skincare brands, as well as pottery and woodwork sculptures. The dog show opens from 10am on Sunday 3rd September. Entry is £8 per car, granting access to the dog show and parking on the sanctuary site. Each class costs £2 to enter.
Kevan Hodges, Chief Executive Officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, says, “We are very excited for the return of Ferne’s annual fun dog show. The event promises to be a great day for canine companions and owners alike! Most importantly, all event proceeds will directly benefit all the animals of Ferne Animal Sanctuary.”
