Last night (2 December 2019), Dean & Reddyhoff’s Weymouth Marina was crowned Marina of the Year for the second year in a row. The Marina of the Year category honours the marinas which go above and beyond in their offering to the yachting community, providing the best onshore facilities, the warmest of welcomes and a range of options for boaters.
The awards ceremony took place at The Royal Thames Yacht Club in London, where Alistair Clarke, Marina Manager for Weymouth, accepted the award.
Alistair comments on the award win, “We are very proud to be recognised at the British Yachting Awards for the second consecutive year and we’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who voted! The British Yachting Awards are really special as they are voted for directly by boaters. To be successful here again is testament to our incredible team of dedicated staff who make Weymouth Marina so fantastic!”
Sam Jefferson, Editor of Sailing Today, comments, “The people have spoken, and they overwhelmingly voted for Weymouth as marina of the year in this year’s British Yachting Awards. We all know that Dorset is God’s own country and that Weymouth has been a favourite stopover for sailors for decades. Yet perhaps it was the addition of world class marina facilities – not to mention a warm Dorset welcome for visiting yachts that swung it this year.”
Rob Peake, Editor of Yachts & Yachting, adds, “Anyone who has visited Weymouth Marina knows that Dean & Reddyhoff run it in friendly and orderly style. In my own sailing, it has been the perfect family destination by summer and a totally protected haven in the winter. Clearly enough of our readers have shared a laugh with marina manager Alistair Clarke and his team to vote Weymouth their favourite marina in a strong shortlist.”
Weymouth Marina, located at the heart of Weymouth Harbour, gives access to the Georgian seaside town packed with beautiful beaches and excellent eateries. Just beyond the lifting bridge which opens every two hours, Weymouth Marina offers a stunning base to explore the beautiful Jurassic coastline.
