Exploring the future of adventure: Highlights from the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show 2025 at the NEC

Last week, ADPR hit the road and headed to the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show 2025 at the NEC — one of the UK’s largest showcases of all the things an outdoor adventurer might need. The annual event brings together industry leaders, brands and enthusiasts, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the latest innovations, connect with sector friends old and new while getting a glimpse into the future of camping and touring. Here are our key takeaways from an action-packed event.

Innovation drives the industry forward

One of the most exciting aspects of the show was witnessing how manufacturers are pushing the boundaries of design and technology. Sustainability was a hot topic, with several brands showcasing eco-friendly motorhomes and campers featuring solar panels, energy-efficient appliances and lightweight materials designed to reduce fuel consumption. Advances in electric and hybrid vehicles were also front and centre of many discussions, showing that the future of off-grid travel is becoming greener.

Smart technology

Remote access control hub technology was a key talking point in the leisure power and climate control space, with many exhibitors showcasing systems that seamlessly integrate multiple functions. The sector-wide investment into smart hubs was prevalent with brands keen to allow adventure enthusiasts to manage heating, cooling and power distribution remotely, ensuring optimal comfort even in off-grid locations. Brands leading the charge in this space proudly talked about their future pledges to invest in research and development to refine and expand these capabilities, signalling a future where purpose-built vans, custom conversions and retrofit solutions will offer even greater control and visibility throughout vehicles.
A smart person would be forgiven for predicting a future of intuitive mobile apps to AI-driven energy management, with this in the sights of many brands the next generation of smart leisure tech is set to make life on the road more efficient, connected and comfortable than ever before.

Space-saving technology

For those who love to travel light, there was a plethora of brands displaying compact, affordable rooftop tent solutions, we visited a number of stands showcasing the ability to erect and provide shelter in less than 2 minutes. It felt like this segment is one to watch, speaking to the exhibitors in this space there was an air of positivity for 2025 with brands openly talking about expansion into overseas markets.

In a sector that thrives on its ability to cleverly design modular interiors to multi-purpose furniture solutions and multifunctional catering equipment, it’s no surprise that many brands showcased how comfort and practicality can go hand in hand. There was a noticeable increase in brands striving to provide solutions designed to attract the needs of the youth culture, with many of the equipment suppliers showcasing contemporary designs in bold colours that would be perfectly at home on the “go-to” surfing beaches of Cornwall.

Connecting with industry experts

We spent a lot of time talking with industry leaders, hearing first-hand insights about evolving consumer trends, emerging markets and the importance of brand storytelling reaffirmed the vital role of PR and marketing in the sector.

Final Thoughts

From groundbreaking vehicle designs to fresh approaches in marketing and consumer engagement, it was clear that the sector is evolving rapidly. Many brands discussed some of the challenges they have faced in recent times, however there was an overall air of positivity for 2025.
