Maximise your SEO efforts to win more customers

In the bustling digital landscape, where attention spans are fleeting and choices are abundant, SEO is the hero of online visibility to attract, engage and convert new and existing customers. But what exactly is SEO and how can you use it enhance your brand’s visibility?

What is SEO?

In its simplest form, SEO is the process of optimising your website to drive organic (un-paid) traffic from a search engine’s results pages.

Research shows that 95% of people only ever look at the first page of search results presented to them, and half of the clicks go to the first three results displayed. Getting onto page one may seem like an impossible task, but there are some simple things you can be doing to significantly increase your ranking.

How does SEO work?

But how does SEO actually work? Although SEO can seem complex due to the number of factors that could impact your ranking, the process for SEO is much easier than it may seem!

Search engines want to provide the best service for their users. This means delivering results on the search engine pages that are not only high quality but also relevant to what the user is looking for. In order to do this, search engines will scan all websites to better understand what the site is about. This helps them deliver more relevant results to those who are searching for certain topics or keywords.

Keywords

SEO is the process that organisations go through to make sure their site ranks high in the search engines for relevant keywords and phrases. Your SEO keywords are the words and phrases that describe your website content, making it possible for people to find your site via search engines. It is crucial for your business to analyse what keywords you are aiming to be found for, appropriate to your content. This should then be imbedded and integrated throughout your brand’s content in order to rank as highly as possible.

Content

Content is incredibly powerful for your brand and is a key factor to consider when looking to improve your SEO ranking. Creating more engaging and effective SEO-focused content, will increase your chances of bringing in more targeted organic traffic. But it is essential to get this right as poor keyword usage will hurt your search ranking. For example, it is vital to avoid overusing your keywords, not only will it decrease the quality of the content you’re producing, but may incur Google penalties (this is known as keyword stuffing and puts off users!) Use keywords naturally to keep both Google and your site users happy!

The benefits

There are many benefits of implementing search engine optimisation for your business. If you can improve your SEO efforts, you will almost certainly expand your visibility on search engines. This in turn, will help you to reach and engage with more potential customers.

Similarly, search engines will actively scan your website to determine how easy it is to navigate and read, rewarding user-friendly sites with higher rankings on the search engine results page.

Adjusting your website and content for greater visibility and readability, will boost your online ranking and give your SEO greater meaning. SEO is fundamental to reach your target audience, drive sales and improve your website’s organic traffic and performance!
