Moored at Dean & Reddyhoff’s Haslar Marina, the iconic green Lightship Mary Mouse 2, one of Portsmouth Harbour’s popular eateries, has recently been substantially refurbished.
Trinity’s @ The Lightship, has a new menu, updated interiors and is offering berth holders, visiting boat owners and locals a relaxed dining experience with spectacular views of Portsmouth Harbour. The refit included creating the tables and bar from from 300 year old greenheart oak, salvaged from River Hamble mooring piles.
Diners can look forward to the new menu, featuring classic coastal seafood dishes such as chowder, moules, seafood specialities, sharing platters, tapas and a grill section. The outside space offers the perfect spot for an afternoon drink or sundowner on deck.
For visiting boats, Haslar Marina has launched a special ‘lunchtime berthing rate’ of £5 for boats and RIBs under 7.5 metres. Additionally skippers of RYA training schools can eat for free if they bring their crew along for a meal.
Ben Lippiett, Manager of Dean & Reddyhoff’s Haslar Marina, says, “This summer’s boating season is all set to be the best ever. Catering to all tastes, we are certain that Trinity’s @ The Lightship will become a regular haunt for berth holders and visitors alike. We’re perfectly located for a lunchtime visit and look forward to welcoming short stay and overnight visitors from around the Solent and beyond.”
Visitors can call the 24-hour marina office on VHF Ch 80 for a berth and Haslar Marina berth holders can access discounts and special offers.
The experienced Trinity’s team have also recently taken on the restaurant onshore, Trinity’s @ Haslar, within walking distance of Gosport town centre and the cross-harbour Gosport Ferry.
Open from breakfast until late, offering bistro-style food, afternoon tea, homemade pizza and Sunday lunch, Trinity’s @ Haslar is open to everybody. For those arriving without a boat then there is a large car park on site.
Gosport resident and General Manager of both Trinity’s restaurants comments, “We’re able to source fantastic ingredients directly from local suppliers and our seafood offering is already proving very popular with our guests. Our dedicated team are looking forward to showcasing their dishes and hope that you join us to experience our friendly welcome.”
Officially reopened by MP Caroline Dinenage last month, the restaurant and bar is situated on the Mary Mouse 2, the first lightvessel (named LV1) built by Trinity House after the Second World War in 1946. She was on station, warning ships of shallow and dangerous waters, all around the UK during her long working life, until her decommissioning in 1989. John Dean & Richard Reddyhoff rescued her from the breakers and transformed her in 1993 into the unique feature and top-tier dining venue, she is today.
